The impact surrounding the popular use of emojis is about to spiral into a full feature film. That’s right, a movie about emojis who live in a city hidden within a messaging app is coming your way. I guess the pillows, clothing & phone cases just weren’t enough to please all emoji users – but Sony has you covered! Emojimovie: Express Yourself was first announced at CinemaCon 2016. Stars like T.J. Miller, James Corden & Ilana Glazer are confirmed as the emoji cast so far. The film is set to head to the big screens on August 11, 2017 by Columbia Pictures.

The story takes place within the hidden city of Textopolis where the emojis live and their main goal is to be selected by an iPhone user, which is seen as a royalty in their world. Gene, an emoji who was born “without a filter” is destined to become normal like the other emojis and looks to his friends Hi-5 and Jailbreak for help. The three emojis embark on an “app-venture” to fix Gene and save their world from what is going to threaten the fate of the emojis of Textopolis, and in the midst of it all the audience will receive motivating messages from a character named Poop Daddy. I love learning about the new movies that are happening in the upcoming year! It is always my families tradition to go to a new animated movie at midnight once a year, so we try to decide which one we want to for that year. I did not know that they were making an Emojimovie. That is so great. I will have to tell my kids about that and see if they want to watch that one! Thanks for the article.
